When I use the floor jack, I go 'off' the diff to one side on the rear susp A arm, and use an old knarly piece of plywood for a 'protective' and broad lift point, there. Never had a problem, and I can crank it high enough, even 'off center line' to get both rear wheel/tires off.

I thought I had bookmarked some posts on the topic, but all I found was this pic done by someone else; they are using the rear diff, though not on the finned aluminunm piece, fwiw.
