This correction may be inaccurate for some folks and is superfluous at best. If you have Comfort Access then you can switch on the ignition without inserting the key into the dash. The prose “the key is ready to start the engine” can apply to either inserting it into the dash or simply having it in the car. If one wanted to get very verbose then you would have to be explicit about both methods of switching on the ignition. Which in the case of Comfort Access, you would substitute key insertion with a Start button press, for a total of two Start button presses to switch on the ignition (1st for Accessory, 2nd for Ignition). Likewise, where it says “don’t actually start the car” it could explain that at no time should you press the brake pedal while pressing the start button. It’s much cleaner to just say switch the ignition on and don’t start the car. It should not be unreasonable to expect a driver to know how to do this with their vehicle as equipped. One could always read the basic vehicle operations section of the owner’s manual if they were unfamiliar with these common functions.
