What are the numbers on the outside label of the unit? If there is a 23F then you have a CDM-M3 drive I think and otherwise a CDM-M2. I expect there are several guys on the various forums that have a bricked MK3 that you could get cheap and salvage the disk drive. The bricked units have to be reflashed in Germany or Australia to come back to life. I never found anyone in the US to do that.
