I was in touch with my mother again today. Ordered new shoes for her 325i sport.
She tells me that the X5 continues to be rejected from emissions testing because not all the OBD-II criteria are ready for testing, supposedly related to insufficient drive cycles but obviously this isn't the root cause for my parents' vehicle as it's logged hundreds of miles since the recall was performed.
Ideas on how to proceed? "Drive it more" from the dealership is clearly not the solution and they're not even sure why the various monitors are not ready for testing.
(She did get a 30-day extension of the vehicle registration so it'll be on the road legally for another month)
