Unless the seat is torn from obvious abuse or an accident on your part
a crack in the seat should be covered. So ask and document what they
believe is the cause of the crack in the seat. Their answer will provide the basis for
your warranty claim.

If you had something in your back pocket that caused damage I could see their denying your claim.
However seriously doubt that a persons butt will cause a crack in the seat as you have described.
This may be a weakness in the leather
in this seat.

Remember to document everything that is said by the dealer you will need it
to give credibility to your claim.

BTW you could also visit another dealer and have them look at the crack.
Don't mention the other dealer. Who knows, another dealer might follow thru
and take care of it under warranty.

I'm having a problem with the leather in the seats cracking on my X5. I have the Multi-Contour seat option. The cracking is happening approx. an inch and a half above the seat controls on the side of the seat, on the drivers side.

My dealership says they more than likely will not cover it under warranty. The vehicles only two and a half years old and I expected the leather to last alot longer than what it has.

Firstly, has anyone else experienced this?

Second, what should I do about my dealer and getting them to cover it?

Thanks,
