I have now the ceramic pads on the M50d as they arrived mid week so I had 4 days of driving with oem's pads.

I had been running Carbotech ceramic pads in my past couple X5's but on this occasion had to get EBC Ceramic pads as Carbotech could not get hold on the front blank brake plates. The front rotors are 385mm and since the US is not getting the M50d, Europe was the only place that had them.

Both the European X5 & X6 50i run 385mm rotors (as well the M50d)because of the Autobahn.

The new compound from EBC I would say is a little better than the Carbotech's, the brake force is less and the bite is greater, also up against the OEM's which while on felt soft and spongy also.

The dust from the OEM's was terrible to say the least, due to the front pads being so large, you can imagine how much brake dust there would have been. I would say the ceramics are 60% less dust but that will improve as they bed-in. (previous ceramics pads got better as time passed).
