@bigwave2255 - I've thought about this a LOT - i want to go and have a good time, and not break anything.. the way that i've looked at it is that its only sand - I have a Shorty Pajero with 33' muddies and 5' of lift - and i've taken it places that people swear a pajero would never make it without diff lockers or anything.. With sand, its more about the rubber - going over sand, you want weight distribution & surface area - that's why you let the tires down, so they balloon out (more contact area on the ground).. and in saying that, the ruts in sand are only as deep as the lowest car out there (which grades it down :p ) with the 4.8 I have the adjustable suspension - which although doesn't give me a great deal of clearance - I feel it should be enough to get me through.. I bought the car, I may as well get some fun out of it!
Worst case is that I can't get anywhere on the island, I have to park it & hire a 4x4, hike it, or just camp where I can get too..
I'd love to take my pajero up there, but its for sale & is impossibly uncomfortable to travel in & can't take enough passengers or gear for my liking!
Anyone have any ideas on if I can go bigger than 265/65/18?
