I should amend the article I did- I used a really bad ass metal file on my screws, because it's actually a hazard if you have too much of them sticking out- a shoelace or pantleg could get snagged on it
A dremel would be ideal for this, but mucho expensivo if you are on a tool budget. A good old hacksaw might be too much tool for the task. In any case, the brake pedal is the one to worry about, I don't think any overhang on the gas pedal would pose a real problem, although for uniformity and dress right dress, it'd be nice to shear all of them off.
