Sorry, i know this is a super old thread, but I was doing a little searching and came across it...so I thought I'd revive it.

I've had this issue since i bought my car (2007 X3 LCI). And it drives me nuts. It happened before i tried going with a custom update too. It seems that the splash screen kinda shows up whenever it wants during a start up, but definitely not consistently. It doesn't matter about length of time the car has been off or anything like that.

I even paid the dealer to do a fresh firmware update at some stupid cost and it didn't change.
