Not sure where you are located (Earth? Seriously?) but for the Canadian model I don't recall face level vents in the rear. I think there are underfloor heat/vent ducts to the rear.

We have a 2007 X3 now, and my perceptions were that the X1 had less luggage space, similar passenger space, but a more open/airy feeling due to the lower beltline and increased greenhouse space. The actual dimensions may not bear that out, but to my recollection the space was pretty much like our X3. What was different was the driving experience, the X1 was a generation ahead. Too bad there was no manual transmission though.

I liked the X1. It seemed more carlike, more of a tall 3 series wagon than our X3 does, if that matters.
