well, it seems that since the engine starts, the EWS is working... but the power terminals 30 and R both must be functional for the thing to operate... with only one of them working, the locking may be affected... Is it how you guys are reading that?

Afterrunning time

Important
For safety reasons, the EWS3 control unit features a code-dependent afterrunning time (approx. 10 seconds). It begins when the ignition lock is switched to 0 position. Within this afterrunning time start with any mechanically fitting key is enabled.

Does it mean, that any correctly mechanically coded key can start the engine in those 10 seconds, even if the key is not electronically coded?

Slick, believe me, my head hurts just by searching for this info... lol...
