I had installed a factory Sirius receiver in my 02' X5 4.6i back in 07', but just recent it gave up the ghost. In my search for a decently priced replacement unit I have run across number of part numbers, but I'm not really clear on which gen device I should be looking for to my dead unit.
For the record, I have the OEM Nav, and the DSP radio.
Here is what I have now...
Sirius radio PN 65120398140
Which turns out to be a 2nd generation model. I have seen the following part numbers out there...
2nd generation
PN 65120398140
3rd generation
PN 65120416377
Latest generation units:
PN 65120440550
PN 65120439436 (current)
From what I have been able to tell, the current device is listed for an 03 X5, but the connectors seem to be the same as my dead unit.
I can get a direct replacement of my 2nd gen unit, but I'm curious as to what, if anything, is different in the newer generation models?
Should I go with the latest gen receiver, or stick with the 2nd gen model?
I'd rather stay with the OEM device since I am all wired up for it and all I need is a new working receiver. With a new receiver I can pop it in in about 10 minutes and be done with it. So while I am sure there are other cool devices out there, lets save them for a different conversation.
Thanks,
