Hence if the brakes are covered- a software update to fix the brakes IS covered.

I suspect that BMWNA would NOT pay the dealer $400 for a software update (more like $80) and therefore the dealer wanted to try and bleed you for the $400 bill. Many will pay, and say "Damn BMW", not realizing that it wasn't BMW screwing them but rather the dealership.

Remember, they control the info- you really dont know what BMWNA is saying or doing...
