Purchased a mount from kuda for my E53 and was wondering if anyone has installed one recently...

KUDA OEM leather iPhone GPS Mount for BMW X5 (E53) (00-06) black

The instruction they provide are quite basic and I don't want to break anything. The trim around the shifter is easy to remove but I can't quite see how the first step of the install is supposed to go.
