I promise, you won't break it. I've taken that trim off a couple of times, using a flat head screwdriver. I believe there are three of those little push-in plastic fasteners holding it in place. Just start from the back with a flat head screwdriver, lift enough so that you can grab it with your fingers, then slowly pull forward. You'll feel where it's connected to the door panel. Again, just go slowly. Watch out for splinters though. The back is unfinished, I got a couple of of deep splinters doing this.
