May or may not be related....I had a similar issue with my Lexus...the e-brake spring 'cover' was seized/attached to my rotor...destroyed it and now need to replace it this week. The lexus has the ability to screw small bolts into the rotor to brake it free from the hub. Not sure if the X5 has the same mechanism.
