I would keep your current/orig spare tire in place: while it is a decade old, it's in the dark and if you ever have to use it I would bet it runs fine.

Our X is 11 yrs old, with orig spare, and other than I check the psi once a year, I would have zero qualms in using it if I had to...

When was the last time you had to crank on a spare? Thought so.

Of course I run non-RFTs on the VetteVert with only a plug kit and compressor, but the last time I was left on the side of the road having to change a tire was in...I don't remember, as it was decades ago. Any tire problem I have had has been discovered in the driveway/garage as a slow leak due to a nail and it got patched/plugged.
