JCL, never got an analysis on why the bearings failed. I would be happy to mail a bearing to you if you're curious. They were wiped out. The crank was machineable, however I scored a spare 4.6 long block for 1300 bucks, so I started with that.
I'm not going to post anything about Step 2 until the car's running, which will hopefully be by the end of the week. Sorry, I'm a tease.  |
Thanks for the heads up papasmurf. As I suspected...it's likely not coincidence that I'm getting this noise with Mobil 1. Same here...previous oil changes with BMW fluid.
I'll either go back to BMW fluid or try Amsoil.
BTW, I always buy my filters from the dealer. Costs more, but I have peace of mind.
