Skyline is on a distinguished road
I spent the entire storm out in the weather with my local Volunteer Fire Department, most of the time at the wheel on an engine. It got pretty scary at times. When you feel a 50k lb truck start to tip over, it's a bit disconcerting. Our main issue here was wind damage. Trees down everywhere. We had about 60 emergency calls in 24 hours, and they have been still coming in at a good clip. I saw about 20+ houses with trees on their roofs. Some were pretty well damaged. 2/3rds of the roads in town were blocked with fallen trees, many with wires involved. I lost six big trees on my property, but a glancing blow to my Infiniti was the only damage, (needs the bumper painted, which was just done two weeks ago!) I need to get up on the roof to replace quite a few shingles. My wife's store has no power and can not open. My business is dependent on the Internet and phones, so I'm out of luck too.

Most of streets are clear at this point, but the electric crews are not fixing anything at this point; just cutting away the downed wires to open the streets , and turning off power so tree crews can work.

We have had power all along, but no cable, Internet or phone service. All in all, there are many, many much worse off; we are thankful.

In the aftermath of the storm, a lot of folks are causing problems with their generators, we have had many folks setting off their CO alarms by placing generators too close to their house, or even inside their attached garage, (very stupid!) I'm sure we'll hear about people either electocuting themselves trying to backfeed their service panel, or burn their house down. Some of the jerry rigged set ups I've seen in the last few days are completely assinine. Like powering a furnace directly with the wires to the panel still hooked up. So you've got a 30a outlet on the generator with a 12/3 extension chord plugged in. then 12 ga household wiring then powering 1/2 the house panel. Can you say electrical fire???? When power goes out, and battery back ups get too low, fire alarms get activated automatically. When power is restored, alarms go off then too.
