Winter Tires on 20" rims - yes 275/40/20's fit on rear rims!

Yes its that time of year again for some of us and before the questions start flying around I thought I would answer some questions before they get posted.

I had a beat up set of 20" chrome 87's and decided to use them for the winter. I found a set of (4) 275/40/20 Pirelli Scorpions off a Range Rover practically new for $400 for all (4)! I made sure the specs showed the 275/40/20 would fit on a 10.5" rim. Sure enough it shows it will fit from 9-11" rim. Bought the tires, brought them to the tire shop, they complained that the tires shouldn't go on that big of rim so I showed them the spec and $100 later they were mounted and balanced. The pics attached show the result for those interested in seeing what they look like on the rim.

Hope this helps some folks out when purchasing winter tires and saving some $$'s in the process.
