BMW used to do a free goodwill replacement - you pay for labor, they pay for part...if they don't do it anymore, there are some companies that will fix it for you. if you decide to replace it yourself with a used one, you have to take it to the dealer for coding, otherwise the mileage tamper dot will be on...
