Oh dear, this is not good, the battery dying kills the nav computers laser setup, (it shouldn't but it does) I think its to to with the laser position memory, I think it gets screwed up and corrupts the memory chip.

It has been suggested to me to update to the latest firmware and to look here to find it.

This is what it states on my Nav 4 - 1/2
Well this is very old and the first revision of the mk4 OS, v32 will be better.

Can you please help me identify which link I need to download the latest version to try and fix my problem?
It's possible, but I would not hold my breath, if you are able to unzip and burn a CD then PM me your email address and I will send you an OEM v32 image to try.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Normally only a new laser will fix the problem, there is a fix from BMW, but this requires a core swap of the loading mechanism, cost wise it about 100 pounds.

If you suspect that the battery will die, eject the map disc and leave it out.
