Nick P is on a distinguished road
The car only did 2000 miles as 6-speed manual, before I can offer something concrete, I must test it porperly even with a bit more power, than stock engine delivers. For everyone, who's interested - I'll do an internet page with all infos about the conversion of M62-powered X5. But I need at least 6 oders to produce it, except I can find a solution or source, where I can cast the adapter housing for less money, than I got it offered so far. So, I'd try to find some connections in China, to keep the costs low, but the connecting shaft will be at least 700-800$ (actually rather more, if I'll do it form the actual source) and there's no way around - it must have a very high quality.

So everyone who's interested, the full kit will be about 3500$, if at least 6 kits will be ordered, going bigger numbers, the price will be lower. You also have to add the costs of an used gearbox, clutch, flywheel, hydraulics and some little stuff AND workshop labour. So in total a manual conversion of M62 powered X5s will cost about the same as Brembo BBK with 380 mm discs all around.
