I've had the Kenwood DDX419 for a few days.
Yesterday I finally got my install kit and in the mail, I went with the
METRA 95-9308B and was pleasantly surprised when it showed up. I have used install kits before and they typically look like junk, shiny plastic with weird texture.... The face plate has a decent texture and almost feels fuzzy. Still might get wrapped with something but for the initial install it isn't all that bad.
It also comes with two ears that screw onto the head unit. I'm not sure how they think it will attach to the dash, looks to me like they are relying on a compression fit. Not sure how I'm feeling about that.... We shall see...
For the double din you do need to trim out some of the plastic. honestly, that is a little scary. Originally I thought if something went wrong I could always go back to stock but once you cut... you're pretty much in balls deep....
Say good by to the sleek factory look....
I'll be cutting tonight or tomorrow and keep you all posted.
