It's obviously not a direct 100% fit - so you've started waisting your time right now, just by asking about it in forum.

If the valves are bent you just need to repalce the heads - there's nothing wrong with pistons for sure.

It would be also a very stupid idea just to throw in some used engine, without doing some preventive sanctions even on another 10 years old used engine with 65 k miles - otherwise there's a very real possibility the pistons and valves in the "new" engine will have another rendez-vouz soon, due to the common timing chain failure.

So the logical minimum even would be
- new rod bearings
- new chain (tensioners, rails)
- new valve seals
- new head gasket

Otherwise you've waisted the opportunity to do it once the engine's out.

P.S:
And you always see a cross hatching on cylinder walls of M62 with alusil coating - that is the most remarkable point if you have to distinguish between new identical nikasil and alusil blocks (not TU related, but the first non-vanos M62 had both - nikasil and alusil coatings)

Allright, yes I was wrong with the cross hatching, on the last one I had apart we did not see anything on cyl walls they were perfectly smooth.

yes when I get the new motor the guides and such will be changed. I just dont wana go through the hassle and down time of going through this engine with 216k that came to a complete stop while running.

the reason I am asking on this site is this is where the other posts about this have came from but there is no finish or the OP dissapears. I am assuming (yes I know what that means) that the swap either went well and they no longer needed help, or they just abandoned it and sold or gave car to salvage yard like so many happen up here.
