I just replaced my front brakepads more than a week ago.All you need is a hex bit to remove the brake calipers and a C clamp to press the brake caliper piston. It was pretty straightforward. I used akebono pads since it has good reviews at Tirerack. I haven't washed the car for almost a week and my front wheels are still clean (no dust). I use to clean my wheels every other day. I spent $87 for the pads and $28 for the OEM brake sensor. I didn't replace the rotors yet since they're still within spec. And those prices includes shipping already.
