The N62 CCV is so much easier to deal with than the CCV on the M62 engine. The older M62 CCV job is on the back side of the engine near the firewall.

If the CCV is your issue, you'll probably see that one or both of them have a split or torn membrane (the orange thingy once the cover is removed).

Another tip: I hear that a paint can opener makes a really great tool for removing the cover. The little curled end (that lifts the paint can lid) helps to lift as well as separate the cover. These can be picked up for about a dollar at any hardware store like Lowes/HomeDepot (or any place that sells paint) if you don't already have one.
