The adaptations relating to the style of driving are reset with every engine start. This is the one what is reset by holding the throttle down. Could just turn the key off and do the same thing.
The adaptations inside the transmission that require a GT1 or similar to reset, and which adapt for transmission wear and fluid condition, can be reset and they stick.
