1986 Volvo 245DL wagon. B23 4 cylinder. 4 speed manual with an electric overdrive for fifth.

Eleven years. Hated to sell it, but we were moving internationally and we couldn't bring it.

Several sets of tires. Several brake jobs; pads and rotors. Plugs, and ignition parts. Flushed the brake fluid every two years. Can't remember replacing callpers, but did rebuild them. Replacement exhaust system, aluminized and guaranteed, for resonator, muffler and tailpipe. Got a free muffler and tailpipe second time around. Replaced the water pump once, battery twice. Adjusted the valves. A fan belt, and a couple of rad hoses. Quite a few halogen headlight bulbs. Rear shocks. Oil and filter changes every 8000 km. Regular lube and inspections.

That was it. Never touched the clutch, transmission, alternator, engine, fuel injection, etc, even with towing occasionally.

Never stranded us. Did overheat once, towing in the mountains, crawling speed due to road construction.
