Lordshin808. I guess it's personal to me. I drove the Diesels before making the decision a while back. I had good luck with my E53 V8 and hate the 6 on that model and also the new one is not enough umppfhh in the midrange.
The Diesel has some amazing Torque in the low end but in mid and high it comes up a little short for me.
I am not even putting the price of Diesel of Premium in the mix. Just the overall feel of the motor is what I am comparing.
Diesel for the most part of readily available so that is not a factor either.
The maintenance costs with the turbos, the urea injection system and pumps and heaters to prevent Winter freezing could drive up the overall costs. But I haven't really seen cost comparisons yet.
Those are my reasons and it will be the same reason I will upgrade to a 2012/2013 X5M.
I love the torque of the turbos and the mid-high range of the V8.
I love my V10 on my M5 and not sure if I will upgrade that anytime soon.
I guess I like to guzzle gas
