the chinese AE lights have some internal circuitry inside them, like capacitor (47 mF), induction coil, a number of resistors, while for a proper operation of an LED all you need an approppriate wattage resistor to drop the 12V to the operating voltage of an LED... and as a matter of fact, the wattage of the LED is not of great importance but the lumens that are emitted and the radial angle at which the light is emitted are more important... there is whole big formula about this, not relevant at this moment...

if i remember correctly, there were 4 square LEDs in the housing, right? all 4 are dead? I will re-read the thread in a moment...
