Last fall I towed a utility trailer with about 3000 lbs of rock; was amazed at how well it rode and drove with that amount of weight behind it. The air shocks compensated beautifully for the tongue weight. It also made me appreciate the low gearing on the manual X5s; starting on an incline and backing up would've been much more difficult without that low first gear.
Later this summer we hope to be doing some camping; we have an older Palomino pop-up camper that we'll be dragging around. It weighs about 1,500 lbs, with about 100 lb tongue weight, depending on how it's loaded.
