JCL has some good points, particularly if you buy new. I took delivery of a 2010 35d for the spouse in January, and she loves it. She had an Envoy XL getting 12-13mpg, 35d is getting 21 mpg used the same. On a CPO purchase there was NO premium for the diesel like there is on new purchase, and depending on your area, there are some great off lease low mileage units to be had.

Diesel noise is a little louder than the 4.4 in my 2000 x5, but not bothersome. Fuel availability is not an issue in our area- about 50% of stations have it.

Based on 6 months of ownership, I say buy it if you like it.
