Yeah.. pretty close. Here's how it went from day 1 (or like day 14)
- I put the new tires from the dealership on the 20" 132's just over two years ago- and about 20k miles.
- Since I ran the 132's on my 3.0 and the tires were still pretty good, I swapped those tires onto the stock 168's.
- The 168's sat in storage with the fairly good tires until the 132 rears just weren't going to last on a 24 hour road trip.
- It was our 15th anniversary this year, and my lovely bride requested the equivalent of about 1/2 a used 4.8is with insanely low miles... for her finger.
- I should add that she has humbly displayed the simple gold band since our union so long ago. It and my $6 silver band were always a nice reminder of where we started- and that we've never been much for silly things like wedding rings.
- She's a good girl and she puts up with my car madness, so....
- So, I felt it prudent to run as much time between really expensive tire replacement as possible- I mounted the stock 168's.
It was only THEN that I noticed how light and spry the X5 is with less unsprung weight. I didn't have ANY idea it would help my gas mileage.
