not sure if they can use the trademark EMW - after the WWII some of the BMW factories/plants (i think just one) ended up in the Soviet occupation zones and the soviets were producing the pre-war BMWs using the old blueprints under a nametag of EMW, as the name of the town where the factory was had the name starting with letter E... i have to google this info...
