Welcome to the forum...

nice truck indeed, congratulations on the buy... tell us some details, how many miles, what options (the llist of available options is tiny, as most things are standard)...

if your nav computer says DVD on the front of it, it is MK4... Also, when you press SETTINGS from the main menu of the screen, in the top right corner, the numbers wil ltell you what you have... 3-1/56, 4-1/40, whatever... 3- MK3, 4-MK4... you have a color screen, so m iddle number will be 1. the last two digits are the firmware... the latest firmware for the MK4 is "00", that includes the perspective view... not available in the MK3... look up those numbers...

upgrading the audio iS is harder than a regular system, since you got the DSP and the subwoofer which need to be accounted for... the interface - i realize that the nav system is very dated on these cars but the level of integration is so deep that when you remove a vital component (and the monitor is a vital component) you lose some functions... you have to weigh the drawbacks and the benefits of the replacements system before diving into a replacement...

again, welcome to the forum!!
