I agree that the this used to be a huge concern, but I'm seeing a lot less issues with people I know who buy first year runs. I remember when the iDrive first came out, my sister in law brought her 5 series back 6 times in 3 months to get the iDrive fixed. We bought our Audi A6 as a first year run and have had zero problems with over 1.5 years of ownership. My friends who bought the new 5 and the existing X5 don't have issues either. Perhaps it's just me, or perhaps it's the manufacturer's using a lot of re-use as well as more money in RD...not sure, but personally I see a lot less issues. I don't typically pay much attention to issues online, but maybe I should.

That being said, we are sold on it, and it makes sense in our life...not sure waiting a year for them to work out bugs I have yet to hear about makes sense. If it comes out and is a completely disaster...then maybe it makes sense.
