wheel bearing is separate from the axle assembly.

If yours isn't making noises, don't touch them. The axle assembly can be had in aftermarket brands for about 50-70 bucks per side.

I'd have him do both just in case the other boot is torn too at that price. Search for Cardone Select (new aftermarket), A1 Cardone (remanufactured aftermarket), or FEQ brand aftermarket axles. All of those should be under 100 apiece.


If your indy is recommending a replacement for about 200 bucks, please go with a bulletproof axle from Raxles (Raxles, America's premier supplier of OE quality CV Axles and CV joints - Raxles Inc.) They take OE cores and use all new inner and outer joints, boots and grease with the highest quality materials. Those will run you $250 per side.
