That is interesting Ninja! From what I've seen on forums, and can see on my X5, is that there are a couple of schools of thought on exactly what the actual globes are for the Angel Eyes themselves for our Halogen based E70s. Some say its H7's others (including the manual) indicate it could be H8.

Part of the issue is that there aren't a lot of people out there (no-one at least who can show us and who is contribution to a forum discussion on the subject) who are actually trying or have done an Angel Eye upgrade and Low Beam & High Beam Halogen globe update to their non-Xenon E70!

A lot of Xenon owners think they know what we're referring to when it comes to Angel Eye bulb upgrades but they seem to be two entirely different head lamp assembly's. It's clear you can see a bulb of some kind nestled between the low and high beam reflector lamps on our Halogen (Non-Xenon) based E70s that sits behind the body mounting that just can't be gotten to, which I and others are assuming can only be the Angel Eyes bulbs themselves as there are no other possible bulbs left to change!

All in all I'm almost certain there would be a full 3 bulb change required if you wanted to tackle a Halogen Low & High beam reflector upgrade with something like 35W LEDs (2 needed each side here with these possibly being H7s) and then also update your Angel Eyes with whatever globe that takes (1 in total and assumed to be H8) with an LED globe also.

Biggest issue in resolving this and identifying which bulbs are needed is actually working out the best way to get in and behind into the light recesses to undertake the changeover.

Most people seem to rule out taking it to the dealer - potentially high cost option. The other option then is how to remove the front headlamp assembly? Is it from within the engine bay somehow or can we go into the back of the headlamp assembly through the wheel arches.....? Just don't know the answer to these questions so I will have to get adventurous I think and poke around more unless someone has undertaken this and can save me and others the trouble of telling us the easiest way to get into the back of the headlamp assembly so you can actually take out the globes once and for all and clear up the rumors of exactly what globes are used and secondly then physically changing them over!

Keen to discuss more and try get clarity here on how to get into the headlamp assembly and determine which bulbs are in use........
