this is an OBD scanner that is designed to pull emission codes and a few others on top. since the powertrain systems in bimmers are highly computerized, you need bmw specific reader that will read the tranny module, the ABS module and the other modules as the main error sending the car into tranny failsafe mode could be anything, from ambient temperature sensor, to MAF, to defective coil or a spark plug to malfunctioning speed sensor to broken ABS module to crankshaft speed sensor... the list is going on and on... even a low tire pressure can throw tranny into failsafe... you need to know the codes or you need a lot of money to throw parts into the car in hopes that one of the parts will get things fixed...
we already covered the INPA and DIS software that are BMW specific - have you gotten any of those yet?
as you are lingering with the resolution to the issue, you are standing a risk that the issue will cascade and you will have more than just one problem on your hands...
