There are E53 sensors on Ebay that are under $30. If you go that route be sure you buy from a seller that has a 98% or greater rating and from many buyers. If I recall correctly Bavauto price is over $100.

Be sure you have cleaned the 'lens' with wax remover--dishwashing soap or paint thinner.

If you used a pressure washer that could explain why it stopped working after it was washed-water where it should be. WD-40 could fix the problem until water gets in again.
