From what I understand, you must be in the MB mode for the BT to work, and I have not found a definitive answer if the "telephone" button on the steering wheel works or not

Dolby can you answer that?

If using the BT you really don't car about you can leave everything in that back pocket, but I suspect you will have to move it forward to allow the mic to be installed. If you do install the mic then the best place for it to be put is in the gauge cluster housing, putting it up by the rear view mirror will cause noise, infact after several months of installing in that location we kept getting complaints, so as per recommendation from Parrot to move it down to the cluster housing, we haven't had any comebacks.
When I use the BT w my phone (Android Samsung SII) I have to originate and answer calls via the keypad on the phone. The audio works through the media bridge but you must be listening through the media bridge. If you're listening to the CD or the AM/FM radio it will not function. My mic wire made it to the bottom of the A pillar and does OK, there is a lot of wind noise there due to the proximity w the AC duct. Other than that it works fine. Once you pair the phone and the BT once, it works seamlessly. I just get in the car and don't give it a second thought.
