check for all the fuses there, and see if any are burnt - when a battery is installed/reinstalled, a surge in current can kill a fuse...
hopefully, it is just a fuse...
there other fuses in the car scattered around, the E-box, the main fuses next to spare tire, some modules have their own fuses, like the radio module does...
do yo have a multimeter? it is best to check a fuse using one of those multimeters...

This is actually my second X5.. Had a 2001 before. It had a fuse blow on the amp one day, but was easy to fix. I have already checked all of the fuses. #7 in the glove box as well as the two on the right side of the trunk. I have NOT checked any of the loose ones that are in line.
