I painted the lower steering wheel trim to match the upper portion. I used Rustoleum spray paint for outdoor metal furniture because it was the closest match. I had it that way for about 2 years before I upgraded my trim. Couldn't tell it was painted and still looked like the day it was painted when I removed it.
