Really? You have a CEL and havent pulled the code, yet want us yahoos to throw out speculation on what you should do?!!?! Besides wasting both our time, wouldnt this possible lead YOU in the wrong direction?
There are 100 things it could be. A code would be a GREAT way to narrow it down. A cam/crank sensor that is starting to fail might be the culprit. or an air leak..or idle air control..or....
but get a code. better yet hook it up to a computer and look at how the engine is running- fuel trims, timing, advance, etc- at idle and part throttle...it will tell you how the DME is responding to changing airflows.
Bad news is that there arent as many DIYers for the E70...yet...but it will come.
