2010 X5 4.8 ignition coil replacement

My newly purchased vehicle 50,800 miles had the CEL come on 5 minutes after misfire shaking. I had driven the car a total of 2,500 miles and on extended trip no issues. This happened on cold start at 45 degree F the other day.

The dealer replaced ignition coil and spark plug for #4 and #5 cylinder and cleared the issue.

Can someone share the cylinder numbering order for 4.8 and also share a recommendation on lowest cost handheld diagnostic for pulling the codes.

I would like to be in a position when it happens again if on a trip to pull the code of misfire and replace with spare injector. I understand it can be done very easy with minimal tools. I fear that if two went bad due to age (no residue or leakage anywhere near them) that others may fault soon.

Thanks for the helpful replies

Looking at this one as it specifies CAN format
