battery drain caused by #60 fuse . . .maybe FSU?
FSR not FSU oops
Hello I just purchased a 2004 x5 6 spd manual. The PO noted two issues one being the panormaic sunroof and the other that "the mirror motors were both bad and caused a battery drain but pulling #60 fuse prevented the drain." This seemed suspect but a trusted dealer told him that. Anyways when I got the car the mirrors would not stay closed when you pressed the close button and the reverse drop on the passenger mirror was more like a bobble head doll. An hours worth of time and some help from members and I got the mirrors functioning perfect. However I cam doubtful that that was actually causing the battery drain. Here is the thing tho when you shut the car off I can here the sound of a motor turning very slowly. . it sounds kind of like one of those fish tank pumps. This seems to be coming from the hvac control unit. when #60 fuse is pulled voilla it stops and when the fuse is replaced the noise starts up. I am wondering if this is a final stage resistor issue but so far the fan seems pretty flawless no surging or anything like that. I have a video of the sound if that would help?
I will probably try unplugging the FSR tomorrow after work and see what that does to the sound but in the mean time ideas are great! thanks
