So, I finally connected my Iphone5 to the NAV System. I was successful in mirroring the Iphone5 to the NAV screen both, wire and wireless. This set up is for those who have a TV function in their vehicle with the option of an AV input. Thanks to TerminatorX5 for his write up on how to connect an Android phone to the NAV System. I am using the same procedures, but the Iphone5 needed different equipment for it to work properly.
I made my first YouTube Video,
IPhone5 connected to BMWX5 - YouTube that shows the quality of the connection. I hope you all like this. For more specific instructions, just ask.
Here is everything you need for the Ipnone5 set up:
For a wire set up:
1. HDMI-to-RCA adapter-

2. HDMI CABLE
3. Lightning to HDMI adaptor-

For a wireless set up, you won’t need the Lighting to HDMI adaptor, but you will also need the following:
1. Apple TV 3rd generation
2. A router, any old router will do. This is because the Apple TV can only be connected to the Phone thru a router.
3. A Cat5 cable to connect the router and the Apple TV.
This is everything connected and tested on my living room TV before connecting it to the vehicle.
I had to use the CAT5 cable between the router and the Apple TV because the images were freezing when I tried to play video.
This is me taking a picture using my phone which was being mirrored on the screen, lol.
Note: For power, everything is connected using an AC/DC power converter. I don’t recommend this power supply because you are using the cigarette lighter which the only way to turn it off is by manually disconnecting it. I am researching a better way to supply power to the router, Apple TV, and the HDMI-to-RCA converter.
