OK so you refurbished one pump, and bought a new Wabco from Arnott as well? The Arnott pump is fitted now, yes? And there is still "self level susp inact" on the dash, ride height LED is not working?

Or does the ride height control work fine it just makes the "pump go crazy" when trying to go to offroad height?

FWIW, if I try to raise the vehicle via the switch you can visibly hear the pump working and it does take quite a few to get up there. The ride height changes are not quick either when lowering or raising, but definitely longer time to take to raise the vehicle in my experience.

Since you have DIS, have you run a ride height re-calibration lately?
