I used the tool when I replace the OFHG but some people were able to remove the fan clutch with out the special tool.

You can just use a long screw driver to prevent the water pump pulley from turning when you use the 34mm wrench to remove the fan clutch. Remember that the fan clutch uses Left hand threads so it righty loosey lefty tighty. Be careful when you thread the fan clutch back on so you don't cross thread the threads.
